The Psychology Department offers a broad-based undergraduate major, leading to a B.A. degree. With 350 majors, the department is among the largest in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Advising

The Psychology Department's advising office is located in Science Hall, Room 280.  Starting November 2, 2009 the Psychology Advising Office will be open for advising for the Spring 2010 semester by appointment only.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Psychology Office at 575.646.2502 or the Advising Office at 575.646.6214.

  

To sign up for an Advising appointment: 

1.)  first, you’ll need to register as a participant before you can sign up for an appointment

  •  go to   http://nmsu.sona-systems.com/
  •  Click on “request an account here”  (on left side of page under New Participant) -fill in your name, e-mail address and student ID.  Under “Course(s), click on “Advising.”
  •  A password and logon will be sent almost immediately to your e-mail address. 
  •  Please NOTE, you must log in using your password within 3 days of registering.

 2.)  now you can sign up for your appointment

  •  once you log on, click on “My Profile.”  At this point, you can change your password if you choose. 
  •  click on “Academic Advising.”  This will now give you a screen titled Academic Advising. 
  •  Click on “View Time Slots for This Study.”  You will now see a list of all the time slots available for an appointment.  Pick whatever is best for you.  You will almost immediately receive an e-mail confirmation for your appointment and you also will receive a reminder e-mail the evening before your appointment.        

PLEASE NOTE:

By signing up for an appointment, you promise to appear at the stated date, time and location you have chosen, You can use the same Advising sign up site to cancel an appointment up to within one day prior to your scheduled appointment.  In order to be fair to everyone, please be on time.  Anyone late five minutes or more, will have their appointment cancelled and will have to sign up for another available appointment.

Financial aid for undergraduates can be obtained through the NMSU financial aid office.
