  • National Solar Observatory/Sacramento Peak - located in, where else, Sunspot, New Mexico.

  • Arts of the Americas Institute - at UNM in Albuquerque. "Programs encourage individual and institutional collaborations for teaching and learning, for research and creative work and for service programs, including performances, exhibitions and publications."
  • Computing Research Laboratory at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces
  • Energetic Materials and Research Center at New Mexico Tech in Socorro
  • High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility - at White Sands Missile Range
  • High Performance Computing Education & Research Center - in Albuquerque at UNM
  • Jornada Long-Term Ecological Research Program - "The Jornada Experimental Range is a 193,394 acre research facility established in 1912. The Range is located 23 miles north of Las Cruces, in the northern portion (the Trans Pecos region) of the Chihuahuan Desert, the largest desert in North America."
  • National Biotechnology Information Facility - The National Biotechnology Information Facility (NBIF) provides a single-point access to a vast store of widely distributed biotechnology data including approximately 7,000 links to biotechnology resources.

  • National Scientific Ballon Facility - located in Texas, the NSBF has several research facilities in New Mexico.
  • New Mexico Climate Center
  • New Mexico Engineering Research Institute

  • Physical Science Laboratory at New Mexico State University
  • The Remotely Operated Aircraft/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Technical Analysis and Applications Center - Its mission is to "create and operate an aero-technical center which provides resources, airspace for flight operations, and assistance to developers in obtaining FAA certification for remotely operated aircraft."
  • Santa Fe Institute
  • Southwestern Cotton Ginning Research Laboratory - Mesilla Park. "The SWCGRL's primary purpose is to study and find solutions to ginning problems involving irrigated high-quality long and extra-long staple cotton."
  • Waste Isolation Pilot Project (WIPP) - testing the feasibility of storing nuclear waste underground

  • Jack Williamson Science Fiction Library - at ENMU in Portales. "One of the top science fiction collections in the world, the Williamson Science Fiction Library now contains over 13,000 volumes of science fiction works, covering fiction, non-fiction, established magazines, fanzines, short-run titles, and original manuscripts, including an original copy of Gene Roddenberry's pilot script for the Star Trek series."
